Ide Ide Identitet

We identify as part of a group, but also as being different from others. The question of identity is not only about origins, gender or appearance, it is a complex question of class, work and future. Its performativity is an agitation of ideals and writing new values in categories that characterise us.

In the 2022's edition of Gledanje Naglavačke at Drugo more, we appropriated performativity, as a medium but also a state: a body in space among people.

Seven young authors worked with us for three months to develop artworks, starting from personal frustrations to finding out how their intimate states are political - caused by the dominant ideologies we live in.

The exploration of identity came out as a confusing notion put in front of the demands of work and intimate relationships. How to navigate towards adult life, is there anything but the gut to guide them?

Seeing crisis as a constant, they confront a mentally unhealthy world. In shared digital and physical environments, they divert known habits to provoke conventions. Revolting against the imperative to define themselves, they gravitate to the truth.
